The Quarto Group (LSE: QRT) is pleased to announce the opening of its brand new office in Brighton’s town centre this month, which will also be the largest publishing hub in the South East of England.
The new office will be home to 60 creative people working across editorial and design, production, marketing and foreign sales, focusing on developing and publishing non-fiction illustrated books. It will bring together seven imprints of The Quarto Group: Quintet Publishing, Global Book Publishing, Ivy Press, Ivy Kids, Leaping Hare Press, Qu:id Publishing and RotoVision.
Quarto’s Brighton office will be led by David Breuer, Director, Quarto International Co-Editions Group and a long-standing Brighton resident.
David commented: “It is very exciting to open such a big creative hub here in Brighton. Quarto has always fostered a diverse and local creative model and we look forward to finding local inspiration and working with local talent to help develop great content and publish beautiful books. Our intention is to become a magnet for all creative people in the region.”
More than two decades ago David Breuer was Commercial Director for the Royal Pavilion, Art Gallery and Museums of Brighton, built the Royal Pavilion Shop, and was heavily involved in Brighton’s creative activities across art, drama, performance and poetry - he still receives correspondence over the highly influential Captain Beefheart exhibition he curated for the Museum in the 1990s.
The seven imprints that will be based in Quarto’s Brighton office are:
Quintet Publishing – relocating from London and best known for its multi-million-copy selling 500 series which has been translated in more than 30 languages. Quintet also publishes titles across crafts and culture, from LEGO™ architecture to loom band fashion, and from street photography to crafting with duct tape.
Global Book Publishing – established in Sydney in 1999 and relocating from Australia. Global produces top-quality illustrated reference works on history, botany and anatomy among other topics.
Ivy Press, Ivy Kids and Leaping Hare Press – all relocating from Lewes, following the acquisition of The Ivy Press Limited by Quarto in March 2015.
Qu:id Publishing and RotoVision have been established in Brighton for many years.
