The list comprises 70 must-have reads for children aged 4-11, with something to suit every young reader. Many of the books in the collection are new titles which will be published this summer, and will be displayed in libraries during the Challenge. The Challenge aims to get children to do more during the summer holidays and challenges them to read as many as they can from the list.

Amelia Earhart and Mabrook! A World of Muslim Weddings, both from Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, and The Hello Atlas from Wide Eyed Editions have been selected as part of the Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People 2017 in the US. This annual cooperative project of the National Council for the Social Studies (NCSS) and the Children’s Book Council aims to gather “an annual reading list of exceptional books for use in social studies classrooms, selected by social studies educators.”
