Become a Happy Yak author or illustrator
Happy Yak, an imprint of Quarto, accepts commissions for innovative pre-school concepts, laugh-out-loud picture books and illustrated non-fiction titles. Happy Yak is always on the lookout for fresh talent, in particular for diverse voices and perspectives, and will consider unsolicited book proposals from both published and unpublished authors.

Submission Requirements:

Submissions should be original, topical and suitable for an international market. A typical proposal would include the following:

  •       A synopsis (an outline of the themes and features of the book, and, if relevant, an explanation of the format)
  •       A brief author or illustrator biography (including qualifications for writing the book, or a portfolio)
  •       A suggested table of contents for non-fiction titles
  •       Sample spreads if available.
