Frances Lincoln Publishers was founded by Frances Lincoln in 1977. The company published its first books two years later, and has been creating illustrated books of the highest quality ever since, offering British style and expertise to readers worldwide in the areas of gardens, heritage, the outdoors, and lifestyle. Frances Lincoln died, aged 55, in February 2001. Her husband, John Nicoll, took over the ownership and management of the company until 2011, when the shareholding of Frances Lincoln Ltd was acquired by The Quarto Group. Frances Lincoln is now part of the Quarto Publishing Group UK, and continues to publish more than 100 new books every year for both adults and children.

Publishers Weekly reports that over the past three years, Quarto Publishing Group, USA has focused on growing its cookbook list. In 2012, it had 35 food and cooking titles, many on what were then considered niche subjects like vegan cooking and low-sodium food. Today, the press has tripled the number of titles on its list to more than 100. And it launched a new initiative, This Is Your Cookbook, to allow consumers to produce and print high-quality hardcover cookbooks with their own or favorite Quarto recipes. Read More.

Publishers Weekly reported on the latest craze in publishing with a feature on the popularity of coloring books. Featured in the story was information on The Quarto Publishing Group's coloring book program. Quarto will easily have a million adult coloring books in print this year, with the market continuing to surge, said Ken Fund, president and CEO of Quarto, a publisher of illustrated and creative titles. Those sales are being led by its Zen Coloring Book series, which includes the bestselling Color Me Calm and Color Me Happy, both by art therapist Lacy Mucklow with art by Angela Porter. The books have gone back to press 10 times in the past six months, for a total of more than 275,000 copies worldwide. "We imagined the books would appeal to adults looking to relax. But we never expected the responses we've received from people battling serious medical conditions," added editorial director Jeannine Dillon, who came up with the idea for the series after coloring with her four-year-old son.
