The author

Rod Lawrence graduated magna cum laude with a degree in fine art from the University of Michigan in 1973. Since then, he has worked full time as a professional artist. Rod is an active artists' workshop instructor, and his art has appeared in many outdoor magazines. Rod and his family live in a log cabin in the hardwoods of northern Michigan.

Kate Tugwell is a professional portrait artist and art tutor based in Sussex, UK. She is a qualified graphic designer, but in 2002 she began to develop her love of painting full-time. For her commission work, Kate's aim is to capture the personality or essence of the person or animal. She paints with acrylics, pastels, and other mediums and works from life and from photographs.
