Get an up-close-and-personal view of Ford's most beloved car, sure to please any Mustang fan.

The Ford Mustang is America's most iconic muscle car. With over 50 years of production and some 10 million cars built, the brand is recognized and admired worldwide. This lavishly illustrated book, full of gorgeous studio photography, walks the reader through more than 50 years of Mustang history, focusing on the most interesting and popular models.

From the first six-cylindered Mustang of 1964-1/2 through the heavy metal Boss and Mach 1 versions to today's all-new 2015 Mustang, Art of the Mustang is a detailed visual overview of Mustang's greatest hits, including anniversary and pace cars, high-performance models, SVO specials, and Shelby's high-profile offerings.

Photographer Tom Loeser's stunning "light-painted" images are given context by informative text hitting the high points of each featured car, while period ads and brochures help round out the story. It's the closest, clearest look you can get of these ponies without seeing them in person.

Tom Loeser has worked as a Firefighter for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (now known as CAL Fire), as a graphic designer and photographer, and as chief photographer for the Long Beach Grand Prix. Since 2012 he has worked full-time as a book photographer provided images for Motorbooks titles Art of the Corvette, Art of the MustangWide-Open Muscle, and Classic Motorcycles: Art of the Speed. His next book, The Art of Mopar: Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth Muscle Cars, is in production.

As editor of Mustang Monthly magazine, Donald Farr has been researching and writing about Mustangs for over 30 years. In addition to his magazine work, Farr authored Mustang Boss 302: Ford's Trans-Am Pony Car and co-wrote How to Restore Your Mustang and the Mustang Recognition Guide with Mustang Monthly founder Larry Dobbs. Farr was inducted into the Mustang Hall of Fame in 2012.

"A beautifully presented, high-quality, large-format hardback… It's the car designer's art, captured and published by artists."

"This book is exceptionally well done. It is well written (as we have come to expect from Donald Farr) and the photographs are top shelf. Photographer Tom Loeser shot 29 cars for the book in a studio, demonstrating that he knows what he is doing behind the camera. The photos are spectacular."

"the authors succeed in defining the essence of what makes a Mustang special... in a word, it is superb!"

"Art of the Mustang, written by Donald Farr and photographed by Tom Loeser, is absolutely one of the titles to put on your short list this fall...something spectacular never seen inordinary Mustang books."

"In Art of the Mustang, author Donald Farr and photographer Tom Loeser curate and document twenty-nine different models of this iconic car, dating from the original 1964 1/2 model through to today's version. Choosing to include stock examples, race cars, and barn finds, the authors seek to answer the question of what it is about the Ford Mustang that we love so much."

"epic... a great read and a must-have for any petrolhead's bookshelf"
