Excerpted from 101 Ways to Amaze & Entertain Fingerprints Another method of picking out the chosen card is to pretend that everyone who takes a card leaves their fingerprints behind. How to do it: Step 1: Ask someone to choose a card and then return it to the deck, placing it underneath your Key Card. Start dealing the cards off the top of the pack, faceup onto the table, looking all the time for fingerprints on the cards. Or so you tell them. Step 2: As you do so, look for your Key Card. Stop when you turn the Key Card up. You know that the next card is the chosen card. Step 3: Look at the back of the next card very carefully, and announce that this card is the one with the fingerprints on it. Ask the person to name their chosen card while you turn it over, and, hey presto, there it is, the chosen card! (You just pretend that you can see that person’s fingerprints on the card.) The Magic Number Your friends will think you have awesome magic skills with this trick! How to do it: Step 1: Here’s the deal—you probably didn’t know this, but the opposite sides of a die always add up to seven. If a 1 is on top, a 6 will be on the bottom; if a 2 is on top, a 5 will be on the bottom—get the idea? Step 2: Pass the dice around so your friends can see that they’re real. Step 3: Tell your friends that even though the dice look solid, they are transparent to you. You can see right through them to the other side. Ask someone to roll the dice on a table. Step 4: Ask for complete silence for the sake of your total concentration. Wave your hand (or wand) over the dice, whispering some magical-sounding words (“Abracadabra” is a good one). Step 5: Now turn the dice over, one at a time, saying the number as you go. Your friends are bound to be impressed!
